Use this form to tell us about you and your trip. We'll be able to confirm if you are covered and any additional premiums that may apply. In the event of a claim we may require you to provide evidence that the information provided is correct.

Your Card, Dates and Region

If you are unsure, check your card. If your card is not found on this list it may not have travel insurance benefits.

Eligibility for each trip has its own required minimum spend. If you had no costs charged to your credit card, include any payments made by cash advance from your credit card account (on the same day the payment was made or paid using rewards points from any rewards scheme attaching to your card such as hotpoints or Air New Zealand Airpoints Dollars.

We use this to match the card type selected above.

Do you hold a return overseas travel ticket for your return journey?

To be eligible you must hold a return ticket. This can include two or more tickets purchased separately as long as you have confirmed bookings to depart from and return to New Zealand. If your tickets have been purchased on standby basis please check our FAQ page to learn about how this will affect your cover.

This should be the date you are scheduled to depart from New Zealand. If you are traveling domestically prior to your international departure, do not include domestic travel days. Please include the time of your scheduled travel so we can be certain of the number of days, measured in consecutive 24 hour blocks, that you are overseas.

Is one of the reasons for your travel to engage in business or work related activities?

Business-related travel can be covered, provided you use your own (personal) card to activate cover. You can only be covered when working if the work you are doing is part of your current employment in New Zealand.

Please note that hazardous or manual work activities may not be covered under the policy and need to be disclosed to us prior to travel by calling 0800 465 322.

Your destination can affect eligibility requirements and is also used to assess the risk associated with your itinerary.

There is no automatic medical cover for persons 75 years and over.Information about age limits applying to the policy is available here.

Are you a citizen or permanent resident of New Zealand?

Cover is only available to citizens or permanent residents of New Zealand. This includes Australian citizens who normally reside in New Zealand and persons holding long term work visa's who are entitled to utilise the New Zealand public health system for no cost.

This policy provides cover for cardholders intending to return to New Zealand at the conclusion of their travel. If you do not hold New Zealand citizenship or Permanent Resident status then AIG may not be able to assist with medical evacuation in the event of a medical emergency overseas. In the event that you cannot return to New Zealand to continue receiving treatment due to your residency status then cover under the policy may no longer be available. If you are unsure about your residency status, please seek independent advice. AIG cannot provide any advice relating to your immigration status.

Do you require medical cover for pre-existing conditions?

Our policies do not provide any automatic cover for Pre-Existing Medical Conditions. Select yes if you would like to complete an application for additional cover. More information about pre-existing medical conditions can be found here.

Are you on a waiting list for any treatment in a hospital?

We cannot provide cover for pre-existing medical conditions if you are on a waiting list for in patient treatment for one or more conditions.

Are you travelling overseas to seek medical treatment or advice?

We cannot provide cover for pre-existing medical conditions if one of the reasons for your trip is to seek medical treatment. This includes cosmetic or dental surgery.

Have you been diagnosed with a terminal condition?

We cannot provide cover for pre-existing medical conditions if you have received a terminal diagnosis for any of your conditions.

Do you have any symptoms without a known diagnosis or for which you are awaiting the result of any diagnostic tests?

We cannot provide cover for pre-existing medical conditions if you do not have a confirmed diagnosis. You can return to this site later and complete an application if you subsequently receive a confirmed diagnosis. Tests to monitor the current status of a diagnosed condition are not considered to be diagnostic tests.

Will your Spouse be accompanying you for the entire journey?

Spouse means your spouse or de facto partner of either gender,with whom you have continuously cohabited for a period of three consecutive months or more.

Accompanying means departing with you, returning with you and following the same general itinerary. This allows for side trips of up to 5 days or 20% of your trip, whichever is lesser.

 

Will any dependant children be accompanying you for the entire journey?

Dependent children must be primarily dependent on you for maintenance and support and under 19 years of age, or under 24 years of age if they are in full-time education. This includes step children and adopted children.
